Which New Jersey Republican House member opposed President Bush the most? Chris Smith of the 4th District. He opposed Bush 67.9 percent of the time. That's the second most of the GOP House members. Seventh on that list was Frank LoBiondo of the 2nd District, who opposed Bush 60.8 percent of the time, according to the Congressional Quarterly. Democratic opposition in the Senate included Bob Menendez at 71.7 percent, which made him fourth on the list of Senate Democratic opposition. Lautenberg was ninth at 70.4. Leading the Democratic senators in supporting Bush was Mary Landrieu of Louisiana at 52.9. That's surprising considering what happened to New Orleans and the Republican response, considered a Bush administration failure despite all of Brownie's grand efforts. Her father was a New Orleans mayor and her brother is The Bayou State's lieutenant governor.
